Day 01: Kathmandu arrival (Nepal)| Transfer to Hotel
Our represent will receive you from Kathmandu airport and together you will drive to the hotel. We will discuss the tour schedules and fill up necessary documents for Lhasa, Tibet tour. There is an option of short walk through old Kathmandu to Thamel (tourist center).Day 02 : Breakfast | Kathmandu sightseeing
We will go for a guided tour of Kathmandu after breakfast. As a famous trading center between Tibet and India, Kathmandu possesses hundreds of monuments. We will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Shyambhunath, Boudhanath and pashupatinath. These sites together make Kathmandu one of the four UNESCO Heritage sites in Nepal. In the evening we will handover Tibet visa and flight ticket for Lhasa.Day 03: Drive 5 hrs to Chitwan | Check in safari lodge, evening walk, sunset view and Tharu cultural show.
After breakfast, we will drive west of Kathmandu valley and follow Trishuli River valley to Chitwan national park. The drive is scenic with the view of terraced farming, charming villages connected with highway by suspension bridges. Right from the Kathmandu valley rim, one can see the Himalayas. Check in safari lodge and join the buffet lunch. Later a naturalist guide will take you for a village walk and sunset view by the river. Drive or walk back to the lodge and enjoy the Tharu cultural show followed by dinner.Day 04: Jungle safari
On the day a naturalist guide will take you on different safari activities. The activities will include walking, canoe ride, jeep safari and elephant safari as per the agreed program. The activities will give you good understanding of the Chitwan national park’s rich bio diversity and importance as last shelter of endangered species.Day 05: Drive to Pokhara | Phewa Lake boating and lakeside walking
After spending another beautiful morning in the jungle, drive 5 hrs north to Pokhara. The winding road unfolds beautiful lush valleys, gushing glacial rivers, terraces with charming village in the foreground of Himalayas. Check in hotel and later go on walking tour of the lakeside market and Phewa lake boating.Day 06: Pokhara tour
Pokhara tour includes visit of natural sites to view Himalayas during the sunset and sunrise. The tour includes sunrise view from Sarangkot, International mountain museum, Devi’s Fall, Tibetan Refugee camp and world peace pagoda. There are also a day hiking to go into the countryside with closer view of the Himalayas.Day 07: Fly back to Kathmandu. Tour Patan
Spend another tranquil morning in Pokhara and later fly back to Kathmandu. The guide will pick you up from the airport to visit Patan. Patan is the oldest existing Buddhist city with hundreds of medieval Newari monasteries. Guided walk through its alleyways will gives you insight of Newari art, architecture and Buddhism.Day 08 : Fly to Lhasa
One the day, we will transfer you to the Kathmandu airport to fly to Lhasa. The 1 hr flight is the Himalayan sightseeing opportunity. From the airport, drive 1 hr to Lhasa. Free in the afternoon.Day 9 – 10 : Lhasa Tour
These days you will be engrossed with sightseeing and excursions of the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. Lhasa is now a fascinating modern city. There are many wonderful things to see and do around Lhasa, which help, tell the story of Tibet's unique past and the intertwining of religion with history. Most of the holy temples retain magic and mysticism and demonstrate the absolute faith in Tibetan Buddhism so integral to the character of the Tibetan people.Day 11 : Drive from Lhasa to Shigatse via Yamdrok Tsho Lake (351 km | 9 hrs )
The day’s journey is full of thrilling view of the turquoise Lake, glacier, snow peaks and high passes. We will drive along the Yamdrok Tso Lake and cross two high passes of Kamba La (4,794 m) and Karo La (5,010 m). Yamdrok Tso is the closest turquoise Lake from Lhasa and Gyantse that Tibet is popular for. Karo La is wedged between two lofty peaks of Nozing Khang Sa (7,223 m) and Ralung (6,236 m). From Karo La drive down to the town of Gyantse and visit the Kumbum Stupa built in 15th century. As a capital of Sakyapa kings, Gyantse was heavily fortified during the medieval time. The ruins of the fortification are still seen. Drive another 1 and half hrs to Shigatse for overnight stay.Day 12: Shitagse tour and drive back to Lhasa
Xigatse is the second largest city in Tibet and one of the important religious and cultural center. Visit Tashi Lumpo monastery in the morning. Built in 1,447, Tashi Lunpho monastery is one of the four important Gelukpa monastery in Tibet. This was the residence of Panchen Lama until the 11th Panchen Lama died in 1989. In the afternoon drive back to Lhasa.Day 13: Lhasa-Kathmandu
Drive to the Gongar airport (65 km / 1 hrs) from Lhasa. Around 10:00am (Tibetan standard time) fly to Kathmandu (arriving 09:00am Nepalese time). Air China's 1 hr flight provides great views of Himalayan peaks including Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586 m), Mt. Makalu (8463 m), and Mt. Everest (8848 m). Overnight in Hotel in KathmanduDay 14: Drive to the Kathmandu airport for final departure or proceed for another destination.
Extend your trip to see Mt Everest and spend a night at the altitude of 4,980 m at Rongbuk monastery. The monastery could be reached by a road branching 100 km off the Friendship highway. Only simple lodge accommodation is available at Rongbuk. Everest north base camp is only about 8 km from the monastery. Rongbuk monastery is the monastery at the highest point on earth and is also one of the most sacred for Tibetan Buddhists. The pilgrims as well as expedition members pray at the monastery to appease the mountain goddess ‘chomolungma’, the local name for Mt Everest. Tourist can either take a shuttle bus or walk to the Everest north base camp from the monastery.

The 8 days Tibet Overland tour from Kathmandu to Lhasa could be organized based on standard hotels which have twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms.
Extended tour of Everest north base camp (Rongbuk monastery) (5,000 m), the only accommodation is Rongbuk Guest house. The guest house has twin sharing room but the toilet is common away from the sleeping building. The toilet is pit toilet with hole on the ground typical to remote Tibet. There are no running water. So don’t plan to take shower.
The most important tip for food is to avoid food those are not freshly cooked and served. Avoid salad, dry meat, yogurt or any stale or uncooked food. Carry supplementary foods like nuts and energy bars and fruits for travelling to Mt Kailash.
There are proper restaurants in Lhasa and Shigatse which caters Chinese, Nepali, Tibetan and continental foods. Chinese and Tibetan restaurants are available in smaller towns as well. Some remote places like Derapuk and Zethulphuk in the trek around Mt Kailash, your only food option will be noodles. Always carry some supplementary food for the worst situation.
It is also possible to arrange supplementary kitchen staff and arrangements. Our experienced team makes Indian and western food. Having your own kitchen arrangements is handy during the trek around Kailash and with pack lunch.
